About Bryhni Søndre
Since 2005, the farm has been owned by Eva Kragnes og Stein Harald Bystad. The farmstead was cleared already in ancient times with roots dating back to 500 BC. Today, Bryhni Søndre includes seven buildings dating back to the 1700s. The host, who is an architect, is happy to tell you the history of the farm and the 10 years of restoration.
The hostess has always been interested in using locally sourced food into the farm´s menues. Eva uses herbs and vegetables from the garden, mushrooms and berries from the forests and ingredients from local producers. Their son Espen Bystad is also one of the hosts. He has extensive experience in tourism and the hotel industry.
In 2011, Bryhni Søndre was awarded «Olav’s Rose» by Norwegian Cultural Heritage. In 2021, the farm was certified as a Eco-Lighthouse, meaning that they actively work to meet strict environmental standards in areas such as energy, waste, transport and purchasing.
